don't miss me|14.06.04|3:23 am
gosh haven't updated in awhile. this week was just crazy. a crazy sleep-deprived week. my days have just floated past since thursday. everyday wake up at 7am to go for driving. give tuition. come back damn tired and sleep all the way till it's time to go to work (so that i'll be alert). work until 1am plus, come home (or eat supper). sleep ard 3am/4am. wake up at 7am for driving. madness. i've been surviving on 3-4 hrs of sleep everyday this whole week. i'm ready to collapse. like right now. i think i'll spend the coach ride up to malacca sleeping. yup for those who don't know yet, i'm going up to malacca the whole week for church camp. yay. ok i -really- am excited abt it, i'm just way too tired to sound excited now. so you won't be hearing from me in quite awhile. i haven't packed my bag yet and i'm going out for like 3/4 of tmr. yikes. ah well. i'm typing this really fast and it's totally random cos i really wanna go sleep already. so anyway karen, i left what you asked for in the comments on the previous entry. alternatively you can always check out my icq info. it's there.. heh yup. excited to hear from you :) hmm. i just submitted a form for my Advising Option in Tufts. had to choose 8 courses. they're very interesting!! i guess that's one thing different abt studying in US and in singapore. like i get to do stuff totally irrelevant (with regards to my major). there were courses abt comedy.. horror movies.. that kinda thing. cool huh. :) so anyway, out of abt 50 Advising Options i had to choose 8. basically the Advising Option thing is like a list of courses. then the course that i get into will be my "OG" (orientation group) and the prof will be my advisor for the next 2 years.. thought i'd share some of the course descriptions with you guys (out of the 8 that i chose - there are much more interesting ones) to keep you entertained while i'm away. haha.

Hollywood's Images of Men, Women, and Sexuality
How does Hollywood influence our views on how men and women should act and interact? Does what we see on TV and film subconsciously alter our opinions of ourselves and others? When people watch movies and TV shows, they are often convinced what they see on screen is 'normal.' However, gender and sex are sometimes portrayed in specific and unrealistic ways. This course aims to make everyone more conscious of the messages films and shows send so they can recognize in what ways they are being influenced. Classes will incorporate viewing films such as Old School, Good Will Hunting, and The O.C. and class discussions that help us analyze what we see.

The Psychological Consequences of Diet and Exercise
There is growing evidence that both nutrition and exercise can have profound effects on our psychological well-being. As but a few examples, recent work has demonstrated that intake of specific foods can alter cognitive behavior and thus, can help or hinder the performance of everyday mental tasks. Additionally, research in our laboratory and others has shown that both diet and exercise can alter behavioral responses to a variety of psychopharmacological substances. In this Windows on Research course, we will examine research methods used to study the relationships between nutrition, exercise and behavior. Additionally, students will actively participate in experiments assessing the effects of diet and exercise on behavior in human participants and/or experimental animals. This research experience will also allow students to better evaluate the plethora of information on nutrition and behavior that appears regularly in the popular media.
