ooh. 300th entry! *pops champagne* just watched shrek again on hbo.. was nice watching it again, remembering the first time i watched it (with the cell, after a whole day at the beach), and finding new meaning in it.

Donkey: You're so wrapped up in layers onion boy, you're afraid of your own feelings.
Shrek: Go away.
Donkey: There you are doing it again, just like you did to Fiona. And all she ever did was like you, maybe even love you.

Shrek: If I treat you so badly, then why are you still here?
Donkey: Because that's what friends do. Friends forgive each other.

all that stuff people say about how you forgive someone not so much for their sake, but for yourself, is very true. we say the lord's prayer and we ask god to forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. it's not easy, hell no. but when you finally decide to lay everything, everything, at the feet of jesus, and tell him, "hey look i can't take it anymore. i really really can't bear this anymore. here, i give it all to you," he takes all the anger, all the bitterness, all the hatred, all the 'why's away. then, you'll be able to forgive, and you'll feel liberated, free from a sort of emotional bondage. i think forgiveness is something all of us seek, at one point or another in our lives, whether from god, from friends, from loved ones, or from yourself. and the power of forgiveness is sadly underestimated. god always forgives, all you gotta do is ask. hmm this reminds me of a song.

here i stand, forgiven
here i stand, holy and righteous
you paid the price when you laid down your life
jesus i surrender all

incidentally, we'll be singing this next week when we lead worship. there's so much meaning in those 4 lines..
